Espresso

Many coffee drinkers are buying espresso machines so that they can make their favorite drinks from home.  There's very few things as satisfying as the first sip of that latte in the morning.  Below is our approach to brewing espresso.

Turn your espresso machine on and let it get nice'n warm, a cold machine won't keep pressure and will produce sour under extracted shots.

Recipe:

  • 18 grams of finely ground coffee.  (We recommend grinding right before brewing)
  • Place the ground coffee in the portafilter basket and tamp firmly.  Ya don't have to crush it, just a nice firm press.
  • Insert the portafilter and press the button or flip the handle to engage the brewing cycle.
  • With medium roasted coffees we prefer a 1:2 ratio of ground coffee to brewed coffee.  So using our scale if we use an 18 gram dose we like to stop the brew cycle at 36 grams of output.  This is preference as some of our lighter roasted coffees we tend to push to a 1:2.5 or even a 1:3 ratio to get those fruitier notes out of.
  • Finally, mix the syrup of your choice, froth your milk for hot, add your milk for cold or heck just throw back a straight shot of 'spro it will be delicious.
  • Enjoy
